HAPPENINGS AT HEADQUARTERS |
|
Let’s do a “meet and greet” with some of the amazing crew at the Rescue?
Hi I’m Tamia (Cece). I’ve been with the rescue for a little over a year. The reason I decided to apply at the rescue was because working with animals is something I’ve always wanted to do as a career ever since I was a little girl.
The animal rescue is the first job I’ve had where I don’t dread going to work. I genuinely enjoy my job and love everyone that’s a part of the team.
|
|
|
My favorite thing about having this job is being a part of such an amazing thing within our community and helping save so many animals.

Hi I’m Wanda P. I am going on my third year. The reason I am here is my bestie, Shannon, asked me to come check out this rescue where she was working.
As the day went on, Keith asked me if this was something I was interested in doing. My reply was “sure”.
He then said, “You’re hired.” No regrets to this day.
(This is our other wonderful Wanda. She is incognito at present.)

Hi, I’m Jacob. I worked for Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue in 2023 and came back this past December. I honestly have to say it’s the best job I have ever had and really missed the place while I was gone. I returned not only because I have a passion for helping animals but also because of the team we have here. We all know how to work amazingly together.
I joined the animal rescue because I had a dog that was hurt and Keith guided me to getting her better. He noticed that I really did well and got her back to good health. He offered me a job.

Here is a photo of me and the (resident) rooster. After I took the photo he attacked me. LOL

Hi, I’m Tatum. I started working at the rescue in 2021. I grew up with all different types of animals and used to help my dad with vaccinating and helping injured cattle. |
|
|
The reason I started working here was because I was always working in construction jobs but I knew deep down I wasn’t happy and wanted to work with animals one way or another.
I stopped Scott one day, while I was flagging, and he told me to apply. I was hired the next week and have been here ever since.

Ever since day one, Keith and Wanda have acted as if I am a part of their family. They always had my back and supported me. I’ve found a second family here at the rescue. I love and appreciate everything this place has done for me.

A heartfelt thank you for choosing to work at, for, and with TMAR! You are all greatly appreciated as part of the “boots on the ground’. There is so much more involved in rescuing and helping animals than just the initial intake. |

HOW TO ADOPT
Our rescue is volunteer-based. We rely heavily on our fosters. Most of our animals are adopted out of foster homes. Currently most of our fosters are in the Fargo and Grand Forks area of North Dakota.
We highly encourage you to apply NOW
so you can be pre-approved for future TMAR animals!

Cindy: August 2022, I was blessed with my Krosby Jane (TMAR Alice). I was at a crosroads in my life and decided I was going to get a dog. After a number of conversations with Louise, I fell in love with Alice. I picked out a name for her even before meeting her. The name Krosby (Crosby) means “at the cross”. It was a perfect name for a perfect puppy. She changed my life and I am thankful every day for this sweet girl. |
|
|
One of the post adoption emails from TMAR included a typed copy of RESCUE MATTERS. I downloaded the book on my kindle and started reading. I cried and hugged Krosby from the beginning to the end.
I was so thankful to Keith and everyone in the TMAR family for brining my Krosby to me. Extra shout out to Louise and Dawn!

I knew I needed to help this amazing group of people. I wanted to foster as a way to give back. I was approved to foster and began our new TMAR journey in January 2023. |

My first foster was Tucker, a little brown pup who quickly captured hearts. He was adopted by my brother and family. There are still stories about that fateful day.
Tucker and I share a special bond and I have loved watching him grow and grow
…. and grow…. and grow.

There have been a number of sweet pups and cats that have come through our doors. Tyla, who ate toys and had emergency surgery. Minnie, who enjoyed the lake cabin a day after coming to us. Holly, who I cried about for hours after she left because she was going to a different rescue. Lea, who was my first flight puppy and I was anxious until she got in her momma’s arms in New York. We all know how much Miracle meant to me. I have been able to use my experiences to help Rocky, who now has a new forever home. |
|

I have added two more TMAR babies to our home since the foster journey started, neither one was a foster fail. |

I had noticed with fostering that Krosby would always seem a little down after a foster left. In August of 2023, she got her very own puppy! |

Harley (TMAR Harley) joined our family and I still smile thinking how excited she was when I introduced her to her new brother……

While I said I was only going to foster in emergency situations after Harley, Here I am continuing to foster. Rocky makes # 28. |

My house can be noisy. I probably need to clean my carpets more often. I have more dog treats in my pantry than regular food. I now know more about Kongs, the best baby gates, why enrichment toys are needed and basic first aid for puppies.
I have met so many wonderful people and have made new friends along this journey. I have learned how to be an extrovert at meet and greet and adoption events.
If you have ever thought about fostering, please do. Yes, it is hard to say goodbye. But that only means
you shared your love and received love in return
Thank you Cindy, for sharing your heart. You are making a difference in the lives of so many, both people and animals.

TMAR operates in an underserved community where veterinary access is sparse and local animals are in desperate need of a helping hand. We work hand in hand with our community to save thousands of animals each year. We are nothing without our community, our volunteers and our supporters.
Every dollar you donate will go towards providing vaccinations, mange and flea and tick treatments, paying for vet bills, gas for transports, food for the animals, and our biggest goal, a shelter. You can donate financially:
