HAPPENINGS AT HEADQUARTERS |
|
Let’s continue where we left off last month. We have an amazing crew at the Rescue. What’s “happening at the rescue” |
|
Tatum (CeCe)
Once you get to the rescue, we usually start off by getting all the dogs out of their kennels and into transport kennels. After they are in the transport kennels, we clean the big kennels that they sleep/eat/play in. After the cleaning is done, they are fed and I usually wait for them to go potty after they are done eating.
Then we start the second clean for the kennels. That’s when we gather all the dishes in a bag. There are two people for the morning shift who either do the dishes or do the cat room.

The cat room consists of cleaning their sleep area and their water and food bowls. Then the cat litter compartment is cleaned |

I usually do the laundry. I help Keith or Shelby with an animal or set up a kennel for an animal. Sometimes I will be sent on a ‘pick up’ or a vet trip.
We also take the dogs, who are off their 14 day quarantine, out for a 15 minute walk.

There is always something that needs to be done at the rescue besides feeding and cleaning up after the animals. There’s laundry, dishes, receiving and organizing packages from the wish list of donations.

A day for me at the rescue is making sure all the garbage is taken out. Then watering and feeding the outside dogs along with cleaning their kennel areas.
|
|
After that I check my ‘to do ‘ list of things that need fixing or replacing. I also do repairs and maintenance on the rescue vehicles.
Here I am working on building a fence.

On transport days, we make sure that whoever is doing the transport, has everything they need.
When I have extra time, I like keeping the property clean and looking good.

A day at the rescue can sometimes be calm or very hectic. A lot of people don’t realize how much blood, sweat, and tears our crew puts into these animals.
|
|
|
Over the time I have been working at the rescue, I’ve come across many different personalities with the animals. Each one is different. |

Everyday there is something new to learn and I appreciate being a part of a caring crew. |

HOW TO ADOPT
Our rescue is volunteer-based. We rely heavily on our fosters. Most of our animals are adopted out of foster homes. Currently most of our fosters are in the Fargo and Grand Forks area of North Dakota.
We highly encourage you to apply NOW
so you can be pre-approved for future TMAR animals!

Meet Pia and Ben. They live in Bottineau, North Dakota. Bottineau is a little over 10 miles south of the Canadian Border and is closer to the rescue than the rest of us.
If you follow TMAR on FaceBook, you will have seen Pia do a “live” on some evenings, with Ben as her cameraman.

Pia and Ben have been volunteering for TMAR for two and a half years. They had started following TMAR online and decided they wanted to foster. So they applied and just sent their 28th foster to his forever home.
Their primary role is fostering and Pia has worked at the Spay/Neuter clinics.
They have fostered mostly adult dogs and some semi-feral ones. Pia and Ben find it very rewarding when these dogs come out of their shells and find their forever homes
Thank you Pia and Ben
for opening your home and hearts to these rescues.

An adopter had reached out to our Dog Adoption Coordinator, Lousie, recently. We want to share this with all of you:
“Hi Sheila (the foster),
This is Andi, Blue’s Mom. I don’t have FaceBook anymore so I realized I haven’t checked in with you for a long time.
It was four years since adopting Blue on May 29th….
I can’t believe it.
He’s changed my life for the better. I feel eternally grateful for you and everyone involved in his rescue.
He still loves the outdoors, exploring, and going for walks.
He adores people and gives a smile and a lick.
I just wanted to say thank you again for playing a part in our union.
It means the world to me.”

TMAR operates in an underserved community where veterinary access is sparse and local animals are in desperate need of a helping hand. We work hand in hand with our community to save thousands of animals each year. We are nothing without our community, our volunteers and our supporters.
Every dollar you donate will go towards providing vaccinations, mange and flea and tick treatments, paying for vet bills, gas for transports, food for the animals, and our biggest goal, a shelter. You can donate financially:
