HAPPENINGS AT HEADQUARTERS

Keith’s Korner:

How’s The Property Purchase Going:

Thank you for Rescuing The Rescue!

Purchase complete! It’s OURS!

Let’s Continue Our Talk on The Spay and Neuter Clinics

Numbers from our second clinic in 2025 the end of April:

🐾 132 animals spayed/neutered

🐾 7 injured animals treated

🐾  274 animals vaccinated

Members of the local community rally together to make sure that we have lunches for all the staff and volunteers that work the clinic.

Wanda makes sure the veterinarians have a great meal when they get back to the rescue from their hard work at the end of the day.

(I hear she is a really good cook!)

Also thank you to Starion Bank for helping to sponsor this event.

Loading the bus is about a 6 hour project since we bring about 2000 lbs of kennels. Then it takes 3 or 4 of us about four hours to set everything up before the clinics start.

Wanda takes care of all the paperwork details. (Keith, can we also dub her “Paperwork Whisperer”? She’s got this!)

During the clinics, we also have free vaccination clinics. So people can come and bring their animals to get vaccinated. The less Parvo and Distemper we have to deal with in the county means the less vet bills for us later on as well.

The clinics are fast paced and whenever something goes wrong, we find a way to fix it. One time the anesthesia machine ran out of soda lime on a Saturday. I was able to call around to local hospitals and found the last remaining canister within 200 miles.

Along with spay and neuter surgeries, the clinics also handle minor surgeries for entropion, cherry eye, or hernias and also quilled dogs and other minor first aid issues.

On the last day, Dr. Jess and her crew get up at 6 am do surgeries all day, have dinner, and then wake up at 2 am the next morning to make the 12 hour drive back to Colorado.

The people are very grateful and appreciative of what we’re able to do and to be honest the proof is in the pudding. You don’t see nearly as many starving, mangey, horrible train wreck animals coming into the rescue like you used to. That means we are doing something right.

FEATURED ANIMALS

HOW TO ADOPT

Our rescue is volunteer-based. We rely heavily on our fosters. Most of our animals are adopted out of foster homes.  Currently most of our fosters are in the Fargo and Grand Forks area of North Dakota.

We highly encourage you to apply NOW

so you can be pre-approved for future TMAR animals!

FEATURED VOLUNTEER

Meet Nicole and her family who foster

and also are a great help at the TMAR events in and around

Grand Forks, ND and sometimes in Fargo, ND

Nicole: We foster cats for TMAR. We love having the bottle babies. Or when TMAR has any that need a litte extra TLC we take them in.

We help out at adoption events. And if the fosters need training help with any of the pups I am willing to help out there too.

I have loved animals for as long as I can remember. A friend of mine said TMAR could always use another foster so I jumped at the chance. It is great to see the animals’ personalities turn around: from coming in scared to be touched to going out as a lovable rumbling fuzz ball.

The rewards of volunteering with TMAR are seeing the animals become more confident; as when we get kittens that are nearly feral or physically underdeveloped like the bottle babies.

The challenging part is how attached you become to them. I remind myself that I can’t keep them all. I am just a rest stop for them until they find their FUR-ever home. Then I can help the next ones.

…………………………………………………………………………..

Just a heads up: Matt, Kyra, and Nicole, are always there before the event to help the event coordinator set up. During the event they all are so enthusiastic in talking with people and helping with the animals whether puppies, kitties, dogs and/or cats. At the end of each and every event, they are willing to stay to help break down and clean up …… For those who live in North Dakota:

Keep in mind even if you can’t foster, you can still join the TMAR Events Team. The Events Team is always looking for animal lovers to join them.          We’d love to have you!

helps save lives like these

TMAR operates in an underserved community where veterinary access is sparse and local animals are in desperate need of a helping hand. We work hand in hand with our community to save thousands of animals each year. We are nothing without our community, our volunteers and our supporters.

Every dollar you donate will go towards providing vaccinations, mange and flea and tick treatments, paying for vet bills, gas for transports, food for the animals, and our biggest goal, a shelter. You can donate financially:
