Louise is a very integral part of TMAR.
She will have been with us 4 years on March 24!
Thank you for your passion and hard work.
What do you do for TMAR?
I’m honored to be the dog adoption team lead. I get to work with an amazing team who are just as passionate about getting dogs into loving homes, whether that’s here in-state or across the country.Together, we’re making sure every dog gets the chance they deserve, no matter where they are. It’s a privilege to talk to our adopters and hear their love and support of TMAR. We are blessed with the best adopters and supporters!
One of the roles I love is coordinating transport for our dogs. I manage Flight Angel transports, where we organize flights in partnership with DART (Delta Animal Rescue Transport) and SWATT (Southwest Animal Transport Team) for our pups to fly to their new families.
I also handle Road Trip coordination, making sure TMAR animals are safely driven to their destinations.Road trips are my favorite! I enjoy interacting with the adopters and experiencing their excitement in picking up their new pet as well as their excitement in getting to meet Wanda and Keith.
Both of these programs are huge parts of what we do, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see it all come together.
The best part of all this? Watching a dog who’s had a rough start finally get a second chance with a family that loves them. I’m so proud of what my team has accomplished, and I’m grateful to be a part of it all.
What made you decide to volunteer?
My first video was Keith doing intake with Eve, the mange dog, on 12/24/2020. On my Facebook feed up pops a man in a ski hat and a heavy coat with a dog that was so pitiful. I had never followed a rescue, shelter or even a breeder, but up pops this live. I thought, “Where is this? I’m in Florida and no one is dressed like that today?”
I pushed like and did some research …. North Dakota!!
I have been to many states, but not North Dakota.
I continued to watch the nightly lives and listen to Keith explain about the dogs and the area. It was all so foreign to me – a Florida girl! It tugged at my heartstrings, but there was really nothing I could do from Florida. I saw a post at the end of 2020 about needing people to join the out of state dog adoption team. I thought I’m really out of state and I could do that. My greatest desire was to adopt and have my own TMAR dog, but with this position, I could help more.
I didn’t apply to volunteer at the time because I had an upcoming surgery. Once I was past the surgery and recovery, I told my husband on 3/24/2021 that I regretted not emailing TMAR to see if I could be a volunteer. He encouraged me to find the post and send an email. The rest is history!! I love what I do and I now have my own TMAR pup (Fozzie) and even a TMAR grand pup (Chloe)!!
