We will be known forever
Help is always needed!
Whether you can donate funds, serve as an emergency foster home, or help transport our rescues to safety, we are always in need of helping hands. It takes a village!
Donate today and help us save more lives
With your help, we will ease the suffering of countless animals that will either die from neglect, starvation, sickness, or cold weather. Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operated by volunteers and all donations will go directly towards rescuing animals.
Every dollar you donate will go towards providing vaccinations, mange and flea and tick treatments, paying for vet bills, gas for transports, and our biggest goal, a shelter.
Donations are tax deductible, whether you're an individual or an organization like Devils Lake Ford Lincoln Marketplace Motors who have donated a vehicle to the rescue. Help us reach our goal of building the shelter we need to continue our rescue efforts for years to come.

TMAR is a 501(c)3 non-profit which means your donation today is tax deductable!
How do I get a tax deduction for donations?
Simply save your receipt from donations made online and give to your tax specialist at the end of the year, or enter it in donations on your tax returns. If you sent cash or a check, message us and we'd be happy to send you a receipt.
Fostering involves taking care of one of our rescue dogs until we can either adopt them to their "fur"ever homes or transport them to on of our partner rescues. That means providing them with lots of love and attention, and tending to their basic needs including providing food, water and shelter.
How long would I foster for?
Although we try very hard to match dogs appropriately with Foster Volunteer preferences, fostering a dog or cat can range from an overnight stay (also known as “emergency stay”) up to 3 weeks or more depending on the situation. Typically we ask that you foster a dog until it is able to be adopted or until we can send them to a partner rescue for adoption.
What supplies do I need to foster?
TMAR provides foster volunteers with the items necessary to ensure the best foster success which includes: a collar, leash, and kennel, as well as transitioning food to ensure the dog can transition into the food of your choice. TMAR additionally pays for the dogs vet bills that have been pre-approved by TMAR.
Why is fostering important?
A loving foster home provides a chance for our rescue dogs to begin healing from whatever situation they came from. Whether they were a stray that didn't know they could trust humans, an abused or neglected dog that doesn't know how much love a good human can provide, or a starving and sick dog that just needs some food and care, fostering is critical to the start of their recovery and healing process.
How do I sign up?
To begin fostering, please fill out our foster application online (please do not print and mail the application) and also join our Facebook group to stay informed of when foster homes are needed.
Transportation is a critical part of rescue. Helping with transportation means you are helping us save more lives! Our transportation run is typically from the Rolla, ND area to partner rescues in ND and MN. We typically split it up into 60-90 minute legs in which a driver volunteers for one leg of the trip. Your mileage is tax deductible and you can save lives when you were going there anyways!
What do I need to transport?
Just a vehicle! We can supply kennels for safe transportation.
How does it work?
We will post on our volunteer foster and transportation Facebook page when there is a need and you can simply volunteer for one of the legs of the journey by messaging us. We will coordinate all the details of where you need to meet and who you will be meeting for pickup and drop-off.
Where are they transported?
All our dogs are currently either transported to a foster so they can be adopted or transported to a North Dakota Partner Rescue.
Please contact us if you are ever heading to the following places:
Grand Forks, ND
Having one person that is going a greater distance reduces the number of people we have to coordinate with and makes it easier. And if you are already headed that way, why not save some lives at the same time!
How do I get the tax deduction?
Simply keep track of all mileage that involves transporting our dogs to rescue (to and from) and give the total to your tax specialist or enter it in donations when filling out your tax returns.
How do I sign up?
To begin transporting, please join our Facebook group to learn more and stay informed of when transports are needed.
The TMAR disaster response team has assisted in rescuing stranded or trapped animals in the aftermath of natural disasters. Our small team helped save hundreds of animals over the 2017-2018 hurricane seasons. We assist primarily individuals home owners in often rural, underserved areas that don’t get enough help quickly.
The team has gone to wildfire training, slack water training, swift water rescue and large animal technical rescue classes. There is still a lot to learn, but we want to have as many skills as we can, so we can continue the tradition of the underdogs helping the underdogs.
